Rosa Sanz proposed for Congress on Nov 29 ballot

The Terrassa branch of the PSC held an extraordinary assembly on Friday to propose candidates for the upcoming general elections on 29 November 2026. The local executive put forward Rosa Sanz, Paco Aranda, and Jordi Hereu as potential candidates for the socialist list. Sanz, a law graduate from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), currently serves as coordinator of the Urban Planning, Housing, and Urban Regeneration Area at the Diputació de Barcelona. She began her career at Terrassa City Council in 1988 as a legal officer in the urban planning department and has since held several leadership roles, including director of the Mayor’s Office and director of the Territorial Services and Security Area. According to the party’s statement, Sanz brings extensive experience in public administration and a strong understanding of Terrassa’s municipal needs.

Other candidates and internal debate

Paco Aranda, current first secretary of the PSC in the Vallès Occidental region and former MP in Congress before the dissolution of parliament, was also proposed. Jordi Hereu, Spain’s current minister for Industry and Tourism, is among the names put forward. The Terrassa Socialist Youth proposed Pere Almagro, a member of their executive and secretary for Innovation, Science, and Development at the federal level of the Socialist Youth of Spain (JSE). The Diari de Terrassa reported that incumbent MP Alba Soldevilla will not stand for re-election due to professional reasons.

Focus shifts to 2027 municipal elections

The assembly also held its regular political meeting, with an eye on the upcoming municipal elections in May 2027. Javi García, the PSC’s mayoral candidate for Terrassa, presented a local political report and opened a discussion with party members on preparations for the next local campaign.
