Pope Leo XIV is scheduled to visit Barcelona's Sagrada Família on 10 June. The visit marks the centenary of the death of architect Antoni Gaudí, according to L'Empordà.
The basilica, a prominent feature of Barcelona's Eixample district, was recently described by a reporter as "truly immense in every sense of the word, enormous, gigantic, an injection of pure modernist urbanism, a mountain of stone within Cerdà's Eixample."
This observation was made while standing beneath the Passion Façade, even with some cranes still attached to the structure.
