Festival Dates and Public Events
Platja d’Aro will host its Festa Major 2026 from 12 to 16 August, featuring nearly 50 open-air activities centred around the Plaça del Mil·lenari. Almost all events are free and designed to appeal to residents and visitors of all ages, with music, children's entertainment, and popular culture at the heart of the programme. The event is organised by the Culture and Community Action department of the Ajuntament de Castell d’Aro, Platja d’Aro i S’Agaró, in collaboration with local associations and with input from the Festes Commission.
Community Involvement and Visual Identity
Residents and local businesses are encouraged to decorate their balconies and shop windows for the occasion. The town council will distribute bunting and flags to help with street decorations, continuing a community-focused initiative seen in previous years. For the third consecutive year, the festival’s official poster has been created by illustrator Marisa Martínez. Her artwork features recurring characters that have become symbolic of the event, helping to build visual continuity across editions.
Key Venues and Activities
The Plaça del Mil·lenari will serve as the main hub for musical performances and youth-focused events. Previous editions have included acts such as Gòspel d’Aro, Abba Experience, and DJ sets, alongside traditional sardana dances at Plaça Major. Children’s activities have previously included storytelling sessions, interactive installations, giant games, and second-hand toy markets. Sports events like beach football tournaments, chess competitions, spinning classes, and self-defence workshops have also featured. A 'Punt Lila' safety initiative has been active during past festivals, offering support at Plaça del Mil·lenari on select nights to promote gender equality and prevent sexist aggression, ensuring a safe environment for all attendees.
