Bar Hermós, the fish and seafood bar inside Mercat de la Llibertat in Barcelona’s Gràcia district, will close permanently at 4pm this Saturday after four years of trading. Regular customers who want to visit before it shuts have until the end of that final lunchtime service at the market.
The business occupies a six-metre stall in the market. Chef Alexis Peñalver said losses were linked in particular to its restricted opening hours, from noon to 4pm, according to reporting by Ara.
“I am going back to La Pubilla, which is about to turn 16, and we will continue making them there.”
Peñalver said the dishes served at Hermós will continue at La Pubilla, the restaurant close to the market. He has run the fish bar’s kitchen during its four-year operation.
Carles Ramon’s Seny bar will replace Hermós
The stall will soon be taken over by Seny, a new restaurant led by chef Carles Ramon, who previously worked at Barcelona restaurant Besta. No opening date for Seny was given in the report.
Peñalver said diners at the new bar will be able to choose a fish and request a cooking method, including grilling or baking. He said Ramon would bring activity to Mercat de la Llibertat.
Bar Hermós’s final service is scheduled to finish at 4pm on Saturday.
