Barcelona will host the Palau Vincles Fest on Wednesday, 3 June, when more than 700 children and young people are due to sing at the Palau de la Música Catalana. The event marks the end of the 2025-26 academic year for Palau Vincles and its 15th anniversary.

Palau Vincles is the social project of the Palau de la Música Catalana. It uses choral singing to support social inclusion and integration for children and young people in vulnerable situations. The project offers free choral training throughout the academic year.

Quima Farré, head of the project, said it began in 2011 with two pilot choirs and two social organisations from El Raval. She said it now works weekly with more than 600 children and young people across more than 30 choirs.

The day will include two concerts for families. The first, in the Concert Hall at 12pm, will feature the Palau Vincles Children’s and Youth Choirs, which rehearse at the Palau twice a week, along with choirs from schools and open centres that work with the project. The Palau Vincles team also visits those schools to bring choral training into their programmes.

Some of the music in the first concert will be accompanied by an orchestra made up of young musicians from Sistema Texas and Oriol Martorell. Two new hip-hop songs will also be performed for the first time. Farré said the hip-hop project began five years ago with a group from Escola Pia de Salt, and this year a second group from the Marianao Foundation has joined.

A second, smaller concert will take place in the Petit Palau at 7pm. It will feature singers from choirs run by social organisations that collaborate with Palau Vincles, including the Red Cross. For more on local arts and community coverage, see our news page and our Barcelona news coverage.

The two main choirs in the project receive extra support, including help from a psychologist, a speech therapist, school support space and dance training. Farré said this gives them a more intensive education and more concert opportunities خلال the year.
