In Palamós, Castell beach may close for up to a week from Saturday, 6 June 2026, while crews repair an underwater sewage pipe. The Costa Brava Girona Water Consortium, Consorci d’Aigües Costa Brava Girona, is carrying out the work on the submarine outfall linked to the town’s sanitation system.

The consortium has asked Palamós Town Council to close the beach to swimmers during the repair period. The request is a precaution, aimed at avoiding any impact on water quality while the pipe is fixed.

The submarine outfall is part of the local sewage infrastructure and carries treated wastewater further out to sea. According to the consortium, the repair should take about one week.

Palamós Town Council is now assessing the request and is expected to decide soon on the exact closure dates and how long any restriction will last. Public health and safety are the main concerns.
