Three students from Institut Cendrassos in Figueres are competing today, 5 June 2026, in the national final of ProgramaMe 2026 at the Faculty of Computer Science at Complutense University of Madrid. The team, Eduard, Eric and Adrià, are studying for a higher-level vocational training qualification in Web Application Development, and are being accompanied by their tutor, Professor Dani Herrera.

The contest gives teams four hours to solve several programming problems using one computer for three students. Each task requires careful reading, planning and precise coding, because the automatic judge accepts or rejects submissions without giving error details.

For readers following education and training news across Catalonia, this is a notable result for a Girona-area centre. It is the first time Institut Cendrassos has reached the national final, after qualifying through the Catalan phase of the competition.

The regional round took place on 25 March at Institut Nicolau Copèrnic in Terrassa, where the Figueres team competed against 21 other teams. Their place in Madrid was secured from a wider field of 143 participants from 70 centres across the regional phases.

The national final brings together 24 teams, and the Cendrassos students now have the chance to test their skills against the best teams in the competition. The result also adds visibility to vocational training in Catalonia, especially in web development.
