Patients using the emergency department at Hospital d’Olot i Comarcal de la Garrotxa rated the service 7.22 out of 10 in the 2025 PLAENSA survey, an increase from 6.93 in 2024. For residents of Olot and the Garrotxa who need urgent hospital care, the survey also found that 76.2% of respondents said they would choose the same department again.
The result was close to Catalonia’s overall emergency-care average of 7.31, according to the hospital’s published results from PLAENSA, the Catalan Health Service’s survey programme on users’ perceptions, experience and satisfaction.
Communication and staff treatment receive high ratings
The hospital reported improvements in 18 of the 25 areas assessed. The strongest results concerned the clarity and consistency of information given to patients, as well as their treatment by staff.
- 99% of respondents said information was explained in a way they could understand, compared with 89.9% across Catalonia.
- 94.3% said information from different professionals was consistent, against a Catalan average of 88.6%.
- 94.5% rated their treatment by doctors positively, while 93.7% gave a positive rating to porters.
- 87.7% gave nurses a positive rating for their treatment of patients.
- 91% said they understood what they needed to do after discharge, compared with 89.1% across Catalonia.
Patients also rated explanations about tests and diagnosis at 88.3%, above the Catalan figure of 84.3%. Information about the reason for admission was rated positively by 92% of respondents, compared with 91.3% across Catalonia.
More than 4,200 responses collected across Catalonia
The 2025 PLAENSA emergency-care survey collected more than 4,200 responses across Catalonia. Hospital d’Olot’s result for patients who would return to the same emergency department, 76.2%, was above the Catalan average of 74.2%.
