Barcelona is at the centre of LEGO Group’s latest launch, a 12,060-piece model of the Sagrada Família basilica, which the company says is its largest set ever. The set is aimed at adult builders and architecture fans, and it places Antoni Gaudí’s landmark at the heart of a new LEGO Architecture release.

The model is available for pre-order now and will go on sale on 1 November at €749.99. It will be sold on the official LEGO website and in LEGO stores, including the Barcelona Passeig de Gràcia shop. For readers following local coverage, see our news page.

The launch comes in the year marking the centenary of Antoni Gaudí’s death. It also arrives after the Sagrada Família completed its Jesus tower, which made it the world’s tallest church. The basilica itself remains under construction, nearly 150 years after the first stone was laid.

LEGO says the build follows the temple’s structure from the crypt and apse through the Nativity and Passion façades, the main naves, the sacristy and the towers. The model ends with the Glory façade, which is still unfinished in the real building but is included in this version.

The set also includes a stained-glass effect designed to reflect the light inside the basilica. Rok Žgalin Kobe, a LEGO Architecture designer, said the team felt a strong responsibility to do justice to the Sagrada Família and to translate the complexity and ambition of Gaudí’s work into a building experience.

LEGO says the model is part of the commemorations for Gaudí’s centenary and is intended as a tribute to one of his best-known works. The company also points to the LEGO Builder app, which offers 3D instructions during assembly. More details are available on the official LEGO website and the LEGO Architecture page.
