A Nordic walking group organised by the Valls Municipal Sports Board completed its second outing of the season on 15 November in the Alt Camp region. Participants enjoyed a 9-kilometre route between Figuerola del Camp and Pla de Santa Maria, according to officials.
The activity, which has been a regular feature on the Sports Board's calendar for over ten years, continues to attract individuals interested in walking and exploring the local environment. The recent excursion took place on a clear morning, allowing participants to enjoy physical activity amidst nature.
Route Adjustments and Scenic Views
The planned itinerary required an adjustment due to a local hunting drive, but organisers quickly provided an alternative route to ensure safety. The revised path covered 9 kilometres, connecting Figuerola del Camp and Pla de Santa Maria. It passed through notable sites such as Sant Ramon church, the Carpis path, and Sant Ramon hermitage.
Around 15 participants completed the route in under three hours. The group's ability to adapt to unforeseen circumstances meant the activity could proceed without issue.
Upcoming Activities and Recommendations
The next Nordic walking outing is scheduled for 13 December. It will be a circular route covering 12.2 kilometres with an approximate elevation gain of 359 metres, starting and ending in Les Borges del Camp and passing through Rocabruna and L'Aleixar in Baix Camp. This route is considered the most challenging of the current quarter, expected to last about three and a half hours, and will include views from the Les Borges del Camp and Prades Mountains viewpoints.
This December outing will be the final one for the year, but the Municipal Sports Board is already preparing its programme for the next quarter, which promises new additions for participants. Those interested in taking part in Nordic walking activities should wear comfortable clothing that allows for arm movement, appropriate sports footwear, and carry a small snack or energy drink. Depending on the weather, warm or waterproof clothing may also be necessary.
For more information or to register, individuals can visit the El Fornàs Municipal Sports Centre or the Municipal Sports Board's website, pmevalls.cat. The cost per session is €5 for non-members and €3 for members of the Board.
