Sabadell's education community has strongly criticised the deployment of Mossos d'Esquadra officers in local schools. This move, part of a wider initiative across Catalonia, has been met with concerns over its effectiveness and the absence of agreement on its implementation.
According to Diari Catalunya, the decision has caused significant unease among educators. They question the value of police presence in an academic setting and highlight the lack of consultation before the measure was introduced.
"The response from the Catalan Government, Mossos, stigma, targeting, yes, without a service weapon. It seems unbelievable and more like an attack on a sector that has just come out of a very important strike, indignant over the dismissal of almost two hundred people, including social integrators and educators," a source told Diari Catalunya. This statement suggests the move is seen as a further blow to a sector already facing challenges, including recent job losses.
