Local Producers Gather in Vacarisses

This Saturday, 19 September 2026, the Plaça Joan Bayà in Vacarisses will host a new edition of the Mercat Origen Montserrat, a travelling market promoting locally sourced food and crafts. The event runs from 10:00 to 14:00 and is organised by the Montserrat Rural Park Association in collaboration with the Vallès Occidental County Council, Barcelona Provincial Council, and Vacarisses Town Council. The market features producers from the Montserrat Rural Park, an association of about 20 municipalities across Bages, Baix Llobregat, Anoia, and Vallès Occidental. These include local towns such as Vacarisses, Viladecavalls, Ullastrell, and Rellinars. Visitors can expect a range of regional products including wine, cava, olive oil, bread, pastries, cheese, vegetables, and ratafia.

Family Activities and Workshops

The event includes live DJ performances and tastings of local produce. Children are welcome and can take part in face painting, crafts, and imaginative play in a dedicated kids’ tent. Adults can attend workshops on artisan pantry staples, gardening, and basket weaving. There will also be traditional contests such as stone-throwing and a porró-drinking challenge. The day concludes with a raffle of a gift basket filled with local products from the Montserrat Rural Park.

The Montserrat Rural Park Association aims to support small-scale farming, promote local economies, and boost sustainable tourism across the region.

The market is part of an itinerant programme expanding to seven new locations this year, supported by Barcelona Provincial Council’s agrarian division. Full details on the market’s schedule and activities are available on the Vacarisses Town Council website.
