Free Gastronomic Festival Returns to Pla de Palau
The 18th edition of Born Street Food will take place from Friday 18 to Sunday 20 September at Pla de Palau in Barcelona’s Ciutat Vella district, officially launching this year’s La Mercè festivities. Organised by the Associació Barcelona Born Gourmet under the Born Districte Gastronòmic seal, the event will run daily from 12:00 to 23:00, transforming the square into a hub of local cuisine, drink and live music. Eighteen restaurants and gourmet shops from the Born Districte Gastronòmic network will serve dishes prepared on-site using local ingredients. The festival aims to bring high-quality restaurant fare to the street, making it accessible to a wider audience.
New Participants and Regional Specialities
Four new establishments are joining this year’s line-up. Espai Puntual will serve roasted organic pork with bacon, pickles, peanuts and citrus mayonnaise on Vienna bread. Bar Super will offer its 'Superbuti' sandwich, while Arcano presents a butifarra brioche with truffle cream and crispy mushrooms. Chef David Barrosos from Mercat de Santa Caterina will serve his 'Brutal Smash' burger. Returning participants include Sagardi, 1881 by Sagardi, Bodegas Vidrios&Cristales, Bronzo Bar e cucina, Salumi &Co, Oaxaca, and Ikoya. For dessert, Jon Cake will return with its signature cheesecake, and cheese lovers can visit Vila Viniteca, which will host daily tastings led by sommelier Quim Vila and cheese expert Bausa at 12:30.
El Rebost Showcases Catalan Artisans
A new feature this year is El Rebost (The Pantry), a dedicated space highlighting artisan Catalan products. It will offer wine and cheese tastings, as well as workshops on gastronomy and cocktails, spotlighting regional producers and craftsmanship. Also new, a merchandise stand will sell t-shirts, aprons and other items from 12:00 to 21:00 each day. Daily raffles will give away gift baskets of products from Born Districte Gastronòmic establishments, and an Instagram draw will award one winner a double unlimited pass for all food and drink at the event.
The festival reaffirms its commitment to the history of the Born neighbourhood and the quality and diversity of its cuisine.
Visitor Information
Entry to Born Street Food is free, but visitors must spend a minimum of three tokens, each worth €4, amounting to a €12 minimum consumption. Drinks cost one token; dishes cost two. Tokens can be purchased on site. Pla de Palau is located in the Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i la Ribera neighbourhood.
