Free Music Festival Launches in Tarragona

The Mirallsonor Festival returns this Thursday, 30 June 2023, at Espai Jove La Palmera in Tarragona, marking its 16th edition with a night of live music and DJ sets. Entry is free, and performances begin at 9pm. The event is held in collaboration with the Festival Sota la Palmera, a long-standing cultural initiative supporting emerging and independent artists across Catalonia.

Spotlight on Emerging and Established Artists

This year’s lineup features Barcelona-based singer-songwriter Eva Fort, who is promoting her fourth studio album, Overthinking. Her sound blends melancholic indie pop with introspective folk, underpinned by poetic lyrics and nuanced instrumentation. Paul Fuster, the Catalan-American singer-songwriter, also takes the stage following the release of his latest EP, Organ-ism. Known for his charismatic and enigmatic presence, Fuster returns to the spotlight after several years away from touring. Brave Coast DJs round out the evening with an electronic set, celebrating 20 years since their formation.

The festival has been a fixture in Catalonia since its launch in Girona in 2008. It moved its main focus to southern Catalonia in 2010, with Tarragona becoming its principal host city.

The festival has seen the rise of acts like Nico Roig, Ramon Mirabet, and The Bird Yellow since its early years.

Local Youth Space Hosts Cultural Event

Espai Jove La Palmera, a youth cultural venue run by the local council, continues to provide a platform for young artists and audiences. The Mirallsonor Festival is one of several events hosted annually at the venue, supporting grassroots music and creative expression. Residents and visitors can attend without tickets or reservations.
