Barcelona-based Metropolitan House has sold its first rehabilitated home in the city through its new company, Renova BCN Residencial. The flat is in Les Corts, marking the group’s move into property rehabilitation alongside its long-running housing work in the Barcelona metropolitan area.
The ground-floor home has a modern design, measures 80 square metres and has two double bedrooms. Metropolitan House said the project reflects a new direction for the company, which has spent more than four decades developing affordable housing.
In a press release, Isaac Admella, chief executive of Renova, said the future of urban residential property lies in transforming what already exists. He said that in cities such as Barcelona, where land is limited and housing stock needs updating, rehabilitation can offer economic, environmental and social value.
Renova says it looks for potential in each property, then renovates it using technical, sustainable and market-based criteria. The aim is to deliver a ready-to-live-in home for buyers, or a more valuable asset for owners and investors. The company also says this model removes uncertainty for buyers by offering fully rehabilitated homes adapted for current use.
For property owners, Renova proposes collaboration models that can raise sale value without the owner having to manage the renovation process alone. The company says it can advance up to €50,000 in earnest money, cover the cost and full management of the works, handle marketing and split the sale profit 50/50.
Renova estimates the process takes between three and six months. After its official launch, the company says it wants to become a leading business in Catalonia for transforming urban property stock. For more local news, see our news coverage.
