End of Summer Works on Metro L9 and L10 Nord

Today, Sunday 6 September 2026, marks the final day of disruption on the Barcelona Metro’s L9 and L10 Nord lines, with full service resuming Monday 7 September. The improvement works, which began on 25 June and affected the stretch between La Sagrera and Bon Pastor, were carried out in two phases to minimise impact on passengers. The first phase, lasting until 30 August, suspended metro service between La Sagrera and Onze de Setembre.

Final Phase Extended Closure

From 31 August, the second and final phase extended the closure to include Bon Pastor station, cutting off all metro circulation along the entire affected segment. These works form part of a €22.6 million project led by Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) and the Department of Territory to complete the connection between the northern and central sections of the L9/L10 lines. One key aim has been to reduce the gap and elevation difference between platforms and trains, significantly improving accessibility, passenger comfort and safety.

  • Phase 1: 25 June – 30 August – Closure between La Sagrera and Onze de Setembre
  • Phase 2: 31 August – 6 September – Closure extended to Bon Pastor

Temporary Transport Alternatives

During the works, TMB provided a free shuttle bus service linking the affected stations, operating on a schedule mirroring that of the metro, including overnight service during the Saturday-to-Sunday night.

Passengers were advised to use alternative metro lines or buses to reach destinations such as Fondo via L1 or Gorg via L2.

The shuttle ran every 6 to 11 minutes on weekdays with four vehicles, and every 10 minutes at weekends using two. Bus lines H8, 34 and 126 also covered parts of the route.

Service Restoration from Monday

With the conclusion of the works, regular metro operations on L9 and L10 Nord will fully resume from Monday morning, aligning with the return to routine after summer and expected increases in public transport use.
