Manresa, in central Catalonia, hosted a special luncheon today, 9 May 2026, to honour its centenarian residents. The event, held at the Museum of Water and Textile, saw more than 170 attendees, primarily older people.
During the gathering, 13 women and two men who are over 100 years old received bouquets of flowers. Manresa is home to more than 60 residents aged over 100, according to officials.
Spain's Oldest Woman Attends
Carme Noguera, aged 111 and recognised as Spain's oldest woman, also attended the luncheon. She travelled from Taradell to participate in the celebration. Following the meal, guests enjoyed a session of musical bingo.
This tribute is part of a broader series of initiatives by Manresa City Council. These programmes aim to raise awareness and combat ageism within the community.
