Lleida mayor Fèlix Larrosa is trying to strengthen his government in the city, pointing to progress in security, housing and the regeneration of the Old Quarter. The Socialist mayor says his team has spent the past three years getting Lleida moving again, while opposition parties argue that the term has produced more announcements than results.

Larrosa says Lleida has regained direction, self-esteem and project capacity, but adds that this only matters if residents can see it on the street. He cites more local police presence in neighbourhoods, work on affordable housing, and long-awaited action in the Historic Centre and Mariola. He also says he is open to agreements on major city projects, but that his party will not normalise the far right.

The main opposition challenge comes from the People's Party, with Xavi Palau set to stand again as mayoral candidate next year. Palau says he wants to become the solid alternative in the Paeria, and argues that Lleida has lost ambition, leadership and the ability to respond to residents' real problems. He says the city needs a return to common sense.

ERC and Junts are also preparing for the next municipal race. Jordina Freixanet, who will be ERC's mayoral candidate in 2027, says the current government has lived off past gains and that there have been more announcements than results. Violant Cervera, Junts' new lead candidate, says this term has been one of big announcements and points to Torre Salses and the third attempt to build the Llotja towers as the projects that will define it.

On the smaller parties, Vox entered the Paeria in 2023 with two councillors and is aiming for growth and consolidation by 2027, although it has not yet chosen a lead candidate. El Comú is also still without a candidate and is looking at a common front with CUP and other forces. The next election will test whether Larrosa can secure a stronger mandate in Lleida or whether the opposition can narrow the gap.
