Lleida City Council has presented more than 100 cultural activities for this summer under its Estiu en Viu programme, with events running from June to September across the city. The plan was announced by Culture Councillor Pilar Bosch with representatives from local cultural institutions.
The programme brings together music, circus, audiovisual shows, visual arts and traditional Catalan culture. Family activities, guided tours, workshops and cultural visits will take place at sites including the Seu Vella, the King's Castle and Gardeny Templar Castle. Bosch said the programme has grown after the 2025 edition drew more than 50,000 attendees.
A total solar eclipse on 12 August is one of the main dates in the calendar. Officials said Lleida is expected to be one of Europe’s main observation points, with hotel occupancy already at 97% for that date. The Seu Vella will be one of the key viewing locations. More local news
Marc Sans, head of the Water and Roda Roda Museums, said the Culture Department has organised educational and family activities to support safe viewing of the eclipse. These sessions, developed with the Lleida Astronomical Society, include talks and workshops on 13 June, 11 July and 25 July. Earlier sessions were held during Museum Night at the Water Museum and with the University of Lleida to counter misinformation about the eclipse.
The Seu Vella Hill Consortium will also hold a special event on 11 August at the King's Castle, and Caixaforum Lleida is planning its own eclipse-related activities. The summer programme also includes new exhibitions at La Panera Art Centre and the MORERA. Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, plus evening guided tours at both venues.
Other highlights include Nits del MORERA on 27 June, 18 July and 22 August, open-air cinema at La Panera in August, night yoga and Full Moon Nights at the Seu Vella, and heritage tours organised by Turisme de Lleida. The summer will end with GAMMA, Lleida Urban Art Festival, in Pardinyes. Catalonia news
