€9 Million for Healthcare Modernisation

The full council of the Diputació de Lleida approved on Thursday 15 October 2026 a collaboration agreement with various health organisations to boost services in the Lleida, Alt Pirineu, and Aran health regions, with a total investment of €9 million over 2026–2028. The first annual instalment will be €3 million. Public Health and Sports Councillor Òscar Martínez stated the goal was to bring healthcare closer to citizens, modernise equipment, and strengthen public health provision. Key projects include drafting plans for the helipad at the future Lleida Health Park, installing new radiology equipment at the Cervera and Rambla Ferran primary care centres (CAP), and fitting backup generators at the Sort and El Pont de Suert centres. The agreement also supports the implementation of a Tele-ICU model at the Fundació Sant Hospital de la Seu d’Urgell, a programme of ophthalmic screening known as QUIXOT, and the digitalisation and robotisation of the Val d’Aran Community Pharmacy Service. Further actions will include refurbishing the new headquarters of the Tàrrega Community Rehabilitation Service. The funding may cover infrastructure works, technological equipment, digital transformation, telemedicine, artificial intelligence, automation, training activities, studies, and technical assistance.

New Provincial Job Pool for Municipal Secretaries

The council also approved a partnership with the Generalitat to create a provincial job pool for interim municipal secretaries. The initiative aims to help small municipalities fill temporary vacancies in the role of third-class municipal secretary, which can otherwise delay administrative processes and hinder local governance. Vice-president Agustí Jiménez explained that the Diputació will manage a single provincial pool with a common selection process, while the Generalitat retains authority over formal appointments.

Commitment to Agri-Food Innovation and Sustainability

The council unanimously approved joining the Parc Científic i Tecnològic Agroalimentari de Lleida (Parc Agrobiotech), a consortium led by the University of Lleida and Lleida City Council. The park focuses on advancing research, encouraging university-business collaboration, and promoting knowledge transfer and innovative tech enterprises in the agri-food and ICT sectors. The Parc Agrobiotech hosts key research infrastructure from the University of Lleida and acts as a hub of excellence in Catalonia and Spain for agri-food science and technology. More information is available at the official service page.

The session also saw approval of:
