Mollerussa hosted the Final Four of the Catalan Cadet Women's Preferent Basketball Championship on 2 and 3 May, where Joventut Badalona A emerged as the new champions. They defeated Inverse CB Santfeliuenc with a score of 66-41 in the final match, according to Mollerussa officials.

The tournament, held at the Municipal Pavilion, also saw CESA Femení Sant Adrià secure third place by beating UE Mataró – CAF 77-44. This victory earned CESA Femení Sant Adrià the final spot in the national championship.

Mollerussa's Basketball City Programme

The competition was organised by the Catalan Basketball Federation (FCBQ), in collaboration with Mollerussa City Council, Club Bàsquet Mollerussa, and the FCBQ's Lleida Territorial Representation. This event was a central part of Mollerussa's programme as the 'Catalan Basketball City' for 2026, a designation that brings various basketball-related activities to the Pla d'Urgell capital throughout the year.

As part of this initiative, approximately 300 students from fourth-year ESO (secondary education) at Mollerussa institutes are scheduled to participate in a promotional basketball day. This event, taking place at the municipal sports facilities, will include an exhibition by first-team players from CB Pujol Mollerussa and a 3x3 team competition.
