The emergency call made by Jonathan Andic to 112, reporting his father Isak Andic's fall, was released today. In the recording, Andic is heard saying, "I need help, my father has fallen." He continues, "I think he has fallen down a ravine, please, send someone."
Later in the call, Andic reiterates to a firefighter that his father "has fallen" and confirms he was accompanying him. Francisco Marco, an expert hired by the defence, told Catalunya Ràdio that the conversation "demonstrates the desperation" of the Mango founder's son. Marco added, "No one who could premeditate a fall of this type would then show this natural desperation."
Emergency Call Details Emerge
In a separate conversation with the Medical Emergency System, Andic states his father "has fallen down a ravine." He adds, "The problem is I don't know where he is." The operator assures him they will search and asks him to share his location, at which point Jonathan Andic is heard shouting "vell" (old man) in Spanish.
Mossos d'Esquadra officers arrested Andic on 19 May. He was released the same day after paying a €1 million bail imposed by the judge to avoid prison.
Defence Alleges Investigation Errors
Marco claims there has been an "error" in the case investigation. He criticised the actions of "an investigator, one person, not the Mossos as an institution." The expert stated this investigator made inaccuracies. "There is a police officer who has confirmation bias," he asserted, adding that he attributes this not to "bad faith" but to "a lack of prudence and a lack of knowledge."
Marco also criticised the analysis of "therapeutic WhatsApp messages from a family to accuse a man." He affirmed that Jonathan Andic has maintained the same account "from minute one" and defended his innocence.
He stated that the accusation so far relies "without proof, only indications," while the defence offers an explanation "of what really happened." Marco referred to a video of Isak Andic falling months before the excursion in Collbató. He explained that their investigation, involving various experts and technologies, would prove, he claims, that the Mossos d'Esquadra investigation is false.
Marco also asserted that it is "radically false" that the mobile phone taken on a trip to Ecuador was not used.
Future of the Case
Finally, Marco believes the defence will need to request the annulment of several parts of the case due to "biases and falsehoods." He predicted the case would not go to trial and would conclude within six months. The Método 3 investigator considered that once the judge examines all the information, "but eliminating the noise from those who have said he is guilty," she will start to "open her eyes," and everyone will see that the accusation is based "on nothing."
If this happens, Marco lamented that the images will remain "of a poor man who has lost his father, had to leave the vice-presidency of Mango, and has been paraded in public." He compared this to practices "in the Middle Ages."
