Barcelona’s Caterina Albert Gardens in Gràcia are set for renovation, with the city council planning two new shaded areas, updated children’s play facilities and repairs to the underground car park. The project was presented to local residents in the Camp d'en Grassot neighbourhood, with work expected to start in the first quarter of 2027.

The gardens sit in an inner block bounded by Rosselló Street, Mariner Passage, Sicília Street and Nàpols Street. The council says the site is one of ten city spaces where a blind party wall will be turned into a facade with windows and balconies.

The garden works, budgeted at €1.6 million, are intended to make the space more usable for residents. Plans include new street furniture, shade in the open area and renewed play zones.

According to the council, the children’s areas will include new ping-pong and fut-toc tables. Textile awnings will be installed to provide protection from solar radiation, a measure agreed with local residents.

A separate €1.3 million budget has been set aside for the municipal underground car park. That work will focus on repairs and improved waterproofing to stop leaks.
