Five residents of Vilafranca del Penedès have been appointed to lead the organisation of the town’s 2027 Festa Major. Laia Colomé Nin, Joan Guixeras Corbalan, Iñaki Martínez de Lamo, Mireia Miró Díez de Ulzurrun and Mireia Molins Garcia will form the administrative team, chosen by the Ajuntament to oversee the planning and execution of the annual festival.
Mayor Francisco Romero described the group as a reflection of local society, representing different generations and neighbourhoods, all with deep ties to the Festa Major. Each member brings longstanding involvement in the town’s cultural traditions, from casteller groups to music and dance.
Laia Colomé, a 35-year-old journalist at RAC 1 and resident of the Sant Julià district, has previously contributed to the festival’s communications team and danced with the Capgrossos. She remains an active member of the Castellers de Vilafranca.
Joan Guixeras, a 60-year-old lawyer from the Poble Nou neighbourhood, served as the festival’s pregoner in 1991. He has been involved with the Falcons de Vilafranca and the Grallers de Vilafranca-Colla de Mar, performing at the festival for over two decades. He also serves on the board of Vinseum and the Mas Albornà Foundation.
Iñaki Martínez de Lamo, 45, is an electrical and automation technician living in Barceloneta-Sant Magí. He spent 27 years with the Falcons, has served on the Festa Major Council, and has helped produce the Ball de Foc. He currently participates in the Castellers de Vilafranca.
Mireia Miró, 28, is a psychologist from the Centre district. Her festival involvement includes roles in the GEP youth group, dancing in the Panderetes and Panderos dances, and serving on the festival’s monitoring commission. She is currently a member of the Festa Major Council.
Mireia Molins, 51, is a self-employed graphic designer from Sant Julià and mother of twin daughters. She previously danced in the Panderetes and Panderos groups and served on the Children’s Festa Major commission. She co-designed the festival’s visual identity in 2000 alongside Pere Pagà.
The appointment marks the official start of preparations for the 2027 festival, with the team now tasked with coordinating logistics, programming, and community engagement over the coming year.
