Bellcaire d'Urgell, Lleida, hosted the tenth Firabell trade, industry, craft and local produce fair on Sunday, 7 June 2026, with organisers saying it drew between 2,500 and 3,000 visitors.

Mayor Llorenç Llop described the event as a total success, and said it spread across several streets in the town. Firabell brought together local producers and businesses, with a clear focus on the area's economy.

This year's fair added demonstrations of robotics and artificial intelligence, plus drone displays linked to agriculture. Llop said the new activities were well received and showed that technology is becoming part of the future of the farming sector.

Sensory experiences centred on Poma de Lleida, led by neurogastronomer Fermina Pérez, were also popular, according to the mayor. The fair also featured local talent and entrepreneurship, with deputy Estefania Rufach calling Firabell a reference event in the region.

The opening ceremony was led by Joan Gòdia, director general of Agri-Food Companies, Quality and Gastronomy for the Generalitat de Catalunya. It also paid tribute to Jaume Monfort, the former mayor of Bellcaire d'Urgell and the driving force behind Firabell, who died in spring 2026.

Former Congress deputy Joan Tardà, a close associate of Monfort, took part in the tribute. For more Catalonia-wide local news, see our news page.
