In Figueres, a woman identified as Kimberli D.G., also known as Kim or Erika, was murdered just hours after going to hospital to seek an injury report for court. She believed her attacker was still in custody when she attended the medical centre on Tuesday, the same day she was fatally stabbed in Plaça Josep Tarradellas.
According to sources familiar with the case, Kimberli D.G. had gone to medical centres for three consecutive days. Those visits were linked to injuries attributed to her former partner.
The visit on Tuesday was part of a process to gather documentation for the court. She was collecting evidence related to the injuries she had suffered, while under the impression that the alleged attacker remained detained.
Her former partner, the suspected attacker, had been released from custody. The case has raised concerns about communication and coordination between authorities in domestic violence cases.
