Sant Fruitós de Bages, in the Bages area of central Catalonia, has been named the Catalan Women’s Basketball Capital for 2027 by the Catalan Basketball Federation (FCB).
The announcement was made on Friday, 22 May 2026. The federation said the honour recognises the town’s work in promoting and developing women’s basketball.
Sant Fruitós de Bages is the ninth place to receive the distinction. Previous recipients include Igualada in 2019 and Manresa in 2021, according to the FCB.
The Capitalitat del Bàsquet Femení, or Women’s Basketball Capital, is an FCB initiative designed to give visibility and support to towns with a strong commitment to the women’s game. More on the federation is available on the Catalan Basketball Federation website.
