Figueres, in the Alt Empordà region, will see its local human tower group, Colla Castellera de Figueres, give the inaugural address for the city's Fires i Festes de la Santa Creu (Santa Creu Fairs and Festivals) this Saturday at 7pm.

The group's founder and first president, Jordi Jordà i Casademont, expressed his delight at the honour. He noted that the Colla Castellera de Figueres “was born with drive” and he greatly celebrates its role in opening the festivities, according to local reports.

A Local Figure's Many Roles

Jordà i Casademont is a well-known figure in Figueres, with a long history in various cultural and media fields. He has directed radio stations across Catalonia, Spain, and Portugal. As a musician, he is a member of Mini-Stress, a group that promotes traditional Catalan music.

His involvement extends to the leadership of Joventuts Musicals and his current role as secretary on the board of the Institut d'Estudis Empordanesos. Jordà i Casademont is also a father to musicians and castellers, reflecting his deep connection to the cultural life of the region.

The Fires i Festes de la Santa Creu are a significant annual event for Figueres, bringing together local residents and visitors for a programme of cultural activities and celebrations.
