Esplugues de Llobregat, Barcelona, has declared two days of official mourning, Sunday and Monday, after a woman was violently killed by a man on Saturday morning. The town council has also called for a gathering on Monday at 6pm in front of the council building to express condolences and strong rejection of violence.
During these two days of mourning, flags will fly at half-mast on municipal buildings. This gesture shows institutional sympathy and the city's solidarity with the victim's family and all affected individuals, according to the council.
Mossos d'Esquadra officers arrested a man on Saturday as the suspected perpetrator of the death. The town council confirmed it is coordinating with the police force and has offered its institutional support.

The council highlighted the quick response of two local police officers from Esplugues, who were the first to intervene at the scene.
