The International Music Festival of Cambrils is set to run from 28 July to 10 August 2026. DSL*Dire Straits Legacy is not a typical tribute band; it comprises original musicians who recorded and toured with Dire Straits, keeping the band's distinctive sound alive. This tour marks their first performance in Catalonia.
Original Members Bring Dire Straits Sound to Life
The group is led by keyboardist Alan Clark, who joined Dire Straits in 1980 and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018. Other prominent figures in the line-up include saxophonist Mel Collins, who was involved in iconic stages and tours of the original band, and guitarist Phil Palmer, a key part of Dire Straits' sound during its period of greatest international prominence.
Percussionist Danny Cummings, who also contributed to the band's sound in its later phase, completes the ensemble. This distinguished line-up offers an authentic and powerful reinterpretation of Dire Straits' greatest hits, delivered with the expertise of those who helped build the musical universe from within.
The repertoire includes timeless anthems such as "Sultans of Swing", "Money for Nothing", "Romeo and Juliet", "Walk of Life", "Brothers in Arms", and "Tunnel of Love", among many others.
Celebrating a Global Rock Legacy
With over 120 million records sold worldwide, Dire Straits' legacy remains vibrant, and DSL*Dire Straits Legacy is considered one of its most genuine and prestigious expressions today. The formation precisely recreates the clean, elegant, and virtuoso sound that revolutionised rock from 1977 onwards, becoming a benchmark for multiple generations of musicians and audiences.
The addition of DSL*Dire Straits Legacy completes a significant highlight of the festival's programme, offering a high-calibre international act. This performance is designed to appeal to both long-standing followers of the British band and new audiences eager to experience an immortal repertoire live.
