Amposta, Catalonia, was the setting for a promotion of the Delta mussel at Amposta Municipal Market, organised by the Ebro Sea Local Action Group for Fisheries (GALP Mar de l'Ebre) and the Federation of Mollusc Producers of the Ebro Delta (FEPROMODEL). The event came during the peak harvesting season and after recent storms affected the area.

The campaign aimed to support producers from the Delta's two bays and to underline the mussel's quality and sustainability. According to FEPROMODEL, the product remains closely tied to the territory and to a way of working that depends on careful production.

Officials said the event also reflected the need to keep linking gastronomy, local produce and territorial promotion. They said this approach helps strengthen Terres de l'Ebre's role as an agro-food and maritime centre, with aquaculture playing an important part in the region's identity and economic future.

The promotion at the market was presented as a joint effort between administrations, producers and citizens. Organisers said that cooperation can help local producers recover after difficult weather and keep attention on the Delta mussel as a key product for the local economy.

Further collaboration between local authorities and producer federations is expected, with the focus on strengthening the aquaculture sector and supporting the long-term viability of the Delta mussel. For more local coverage, see our news page.
