The Correllengua Agermanat, a popular race promoting the Catalan language, will arrive in Reus, Catalonia, on the afternoon of 22 April, preceding Sant Jordi's Day celebrations.

The race, which carries a flame symbolising the Catalan language, is scheduled to enter Reus at 6pm via the Montblanc road and Marià Fortuny avenue. A special event will take place at Plaça dels Ganxets, featuring the reading of a manifesto, a dance by the Gegants Manotes (Giant Figures) from Reus and the Gegants de l'Embruix from Morell, and a human tower (pilar) performance by the Xiquets de Reus.

Cultural Celebration in Reus

Following the event, the procession will continue along Bellissens road towards Tarragona. This year marks the inaugural Correllengua Agermanat, an initiative designed to defend and promote the Catalan language across the Catalan-speaking territories.

The flame began its journey on Sunday, 19 April, in Prada de Conflent and is set to conclude on 5 May in Alghero, having traversed significant parts of Catalonia, the Valencian Country, and the Balearic Islands of Mallorca, Ibiza, and Menorca.

The Correllengua Agermanat has garnered support from various organisations throughout the Catalan-speaking territories, with Reus City Council also backing the local event. Residents can participate by running, cycling, cheering on the flame's passage, or attending the cultural event at Plaça dels Ganxets.

Further information about the initiative and its route is available on the official website, correllenguaagermanat.cat, as the event continues its journey to highlight the importance of the Catalan language.
