Catalonia’s 2026 employment calendar contains 12 region-wide public holidays, under Order EMT/66/2025 of the Departament d’Empresa i Treball. The dates matter to workers and employers planning leave and staffing, while residents in Barcelona must also account for two local paid holidays set through the municipal process.
The Generalitat’s order, signed on 30 April 2025 and published in the Diari Oficial de la Generalitat de Catalunya on 6 May 2025, classifies the 12 dates as paid and non-recoverable public holidays. Betevé says the calendar offers the possibility of three bridge breaks and four long weekends, including Easter.

Two local holidays are added in each municipality
Article 2 of Order EMT/66/2025 provides for two additional local holidays, also paid and non-recoverable, following proposals from town and city councils. In the Val d’Aran, Sant Esteve on 26 December is replaced by Aran Day on Wednesday 17 June.
