Comuns Igualada has started a petition in Igualada, Anoia, to protest against the poor public transport services in the region. The campaign, titled "Sign for decent public transport: Igualada and Anoia cannot remain disconnected!", calls on the Generalitat de Catalunya to implement urgent improvements.
The political group states that thousands of residents rely on public transport daily for work, study, medical appointments, and travel between towns. However, they argue that current services connecting Igualada, Barcelona, and other parts of Catalonia do not meet the real needs of citizens.
Residents Face Daily Commute Challenges
Among the main complaints, Comuns Igualada highlights frequent issues such as overcrowding, delays, breakdowns, and a lack of comfort. There is also a "generalised feeling of abandonment" among users, according to the group. These problems affect commuters travelling to and from the regional capital and surrounding municipalities.
The petition aims to gather widespread support to pressure regional authorities into addressing these long-standing deficiencies. Comuns Igualada hopes to present the collected signatures to the Generalitat, pushing for a review and upgrade of the transport infrastructure and services in Anoia.
