Barcelona, Catalonia, forecasters are predicting another exceptionally warm June across Catalonia, after similar patterns in April and May. Meteorological models from the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) both point to temperatures well above average.

The first week of June still carries some uncertainty, and there could be a brief cooler spell, but the wider outlook remains summer-like. The ECMWF weekly model suggests the opening week will be notably warmer than usual across much of Europe and North Africa, including Catalonia.

That pattern is expected to continue through the month. The same ECMWF model shows little change for the week of 8 June, while NOAA’s seasonal outlook also points to much higher than normal temperatures across the western Mediterranean. Sea temperatures in the area are already at July levels.

Rainfall is less clear, but forecasters do not expect a major departure from normal for June. The month is usually dry in Catalonia, although exceptions do happen, including a very rainy June two years ago. NOAA’s model suggests rainfall close to normal, which for June means relatively dry conditions.

The ECMWF model shows a clearer signal for rain only in north-east Catalonia during the first week of June. For wider context on regional reporting, see our news coverage.

The Spanish State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has also published its summer 2026 outlook, which gives a 60% probability of a very warm summer and a 50% probability of a rainy one. Officials say seasonal models have improved, but their reliability is still limited. The final picture for June will be clearer at the end of the month.
