Community Care Forum to Take Place in La Pobla de Segur

The Ateneu Cooperatiu de l'Alt Pirineu i Aran (ACAPA), a regional cooperative body promoting social and community care initiatives, will host a day-long forum on care models at the Comú de Particulars in La Pobla de Segur on 22 October 2026. The event, titled "Shared Cares, Living Territory", aims to reflect on current care practices and strengthen local, community-based approaches in the Pyrenean region. The day will begin at 09:45 with a welcome session followed by a presentation of the "Xarxa pel Dret a la Cura de Ponent" initiative, which supports community care networks in western Catalonia. At 10:45, Iris Parra will deliver a keynote lecture titled "Cares in Common: Freedom, Equality, Justice and Solidarity", offering a social and community-focused perspective on care work.

Local Organisations to Discuss Care Challenges

After a coffee break, a roundtable at 12:00 will feature representatives from four local organisations close to ACAPA’s mission: La Teia Cooperative, which supports people needing assistance; Animació en Acció, a leisure education cooperative; Agaliu, an association supporting people with mental health issues or unwanted loneliness; and Garba, which promotes active ageing. The discussion will focus on the challenges and opportunities of developing a care model suited to the unique social and geographic conditions of the Pyrenees. The event will conclude at 13:00 with a collective debate titled "Where Do We Want to Go?", aiming to identify future actions and collaborative strategies. ACAPA views care as a central issue for regional development and has made it a strategic focus, supporting initiatives like community care networks and cooperative housing.
