The green way project linking Cambrils, Mont-roig, and L'Hospitalet de l'Infant has lost €6 million in European funding, according to Adif. The railway administrator confirmed the loss of Recovery Plan funds after more than two years of delays for the coastal route.
Adif had committed the €6 million for the green way, but with the deadline for executing works with Next Generation funds approaching, new financing will be needed. The project aims to create a civic path along the old coastal railway line.
Future Funding Uncertain for Coastal Path
The loss of European money means Adif must now find alternative ways to fund the project. This comes after significant delays in getting the initiative off the ground. The green way is intended to transform the disused railway track into a public amenity for residents and visitors in the Tarragona region.
