In Palamós, Bitàcora restaurant is marking ten years under the current management of Mauro Pinto, who works in the kitchen, and Andrea Sola, who oversees the dining room. The venue has a long history in the town and has gone through several stages since it first opened.

The restaurant began in the 1970s as one of Palamós' first frankfurt-style eateries. Its original owner, Pere Tur, had strong ties to sailing, a link that is still reflected in the decor today. After Tur left the business, the premises were leased to several restaurateurs, who kept part of its original character before the current owners took over.

By the time Pinto and Sola arrived, the name Bitàcora was already in place. As they explained, they did not want to change it because it had been part of the venue's identity for years. They also noted that the more correct Catalan word would be bitàcola, the shipboard furniture that holds the captain's logbook.

Bitàcora remains part of Palamós' dining scene, with a nautical theme that reflects its coastal setting and history. For readers following local business and restaurant news across Catalonia, see our news coverage.
