Barcelona police are searching for Julia, a 17-year-old girl known as “Lili” or “Lilyth”, who has been missing since 22 May. Her family, friends and neighbours in the city have been on alert for a week, according to Metrópoli Abierta.
The Mossos d’Esquadra, Catalonia’s police force, have confirmed an open investigation to locate the teenager. Julia is 1.67 metres tall, has a normal build, brown hair and eyes, and often wears alternative clothing and distinctive make-up. When she was last seen, she was wearing a blue dress and a black backpack.
At first, her family expected her to return over the weekend, as she sometimes went away for a few days without contact. She did not come back or get in touch. Family sources also said Julia recently lost her mobile phone, which has made communication more difficult.
Family and close contacts said Julia was last seen on 27 May near the MACBA museum in the Raval neighbourhood. They are considering several possible locations, including areas linked to drug use and sales, and informal settlements in Montjuïc.
Sources close to the search also suggested Julia may have been with a man allegedly involved in drug trafficking. According to information received by the family, he reportedly approaches young girls and offers them substances. These claims are being treated as leads that the family is trying to verify.
Her loved ones also believe she could be at self-organised raves or other alternative gatherings she previously attended. While the police investigation continues, family, friends and neighbours have organised their own search efforts across Barcelona, including a WhatsApp channel to share possible leads and updates.
