Barcelona police and officers across the metropolitan area arrested more than 100 people on Friday evening in the Kanpai operation, a coordinated action aimed at repeat offending. The work covered several towns, including L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Cornellà, Esplugues, El Prat, Badalona, Sant Adrià de Besòs and Santa Coloma de Gramenet.
Officials said 19 other people are under investigation. During the operation, officers identified 2,026 individuals and checked nearly 200 vehicles. They also issued 110 complaints for drug possession or carrying prohibited weapons.
The operation also led to 44 traffic complaints, the seizure of one car and the confiscation of 14 personal mobility vehicles. Police carried out inspections at 31 establishments as part of the wider action.
Anti-fraud checks were also carried out on the TMB public transport network. Those checks resulted in 10,543 ticket validations and 263 administrative complaints. For more on local reporting across the region, see our news coverage.
