Barcelona is opening 15 outdoor municipal swimming pools across eight districts for the summer season, with all facilities expected to be operational by the end of June, according to the Barcelona City Council.

Five pools are already open, including those at Centre Esportiu Municipal Parc de la Ciutadella, Centre Esportiu Municipal Sant Sebastià, Centre Esportiu Municipal Piscines Bernat Picornell, Centre Esportiu Municipal Can Toda, and Centre Esportiu Municipal Bac de Roda. The remaining pools, including Piscines Municipals de Montjuïc, Centre Esportiu Municipal Can Caralleu, and Llac de la Creueta del Coll, will open during June.

This season, the pools will operate without drought restrictions, unlike previous years when water limits affected use. All 15 facilities will stay open seven days a week until September, and the city council says they are intended to be accessible for residents, including people with reduced mobility.

The pools are spread across the city, giving residents access in Ciutat Vella, Sants-Montjuïc, Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, Gràcia, Horta-Guinardó, Nou Barris, Sant Andreu and Sant Martí. The council says the sites include features such as children's areas and green spaces.

Among the pools opening are Centre Esportiu Municipal Guinardó, Piscina Municipal de la Clota, Centre Municipal Tennis Vall Hebron, Centre Esportiu Municipal Can Dragó, Centre Esportiu Municipal Bon Pastor and Centre Esportiu Municipal Trinitat Vella. For more local updates, see our news coverage.
