Barcelona saw around 200 people take part in the ninth edition of the Orgull Boig, or Mad Pride, march on Saturday, 6 June. Organisers said the demonstration carried the message, “Trencar cadenes, trencar estigmes”, which means “Break chains, break stigmas”.

The march moved through the city centre and focused on mental health awareness, as well as the stigma that can affect people living with mental health conditions. Participants used the event to call for greater understanding and support.

Mad Pride is an international movement that advocates for the rights and dignity of people with mental health conditions. It also aims to reclaim language around mental health and support self-acceptance within the community.
