Barcelona City Council has approved a new government measure for the Gràcia district aimed at balancing street activity with residents’ quality of life.

The plan is designed to let public spaces host events and social gatherings while reducing disruption for people living nearby. Officials said it will help manage noise levels and overcrowding, two issues that have concerned local residents.

Gràcia is known for its lively squares and regular cultural events, and the council said the new framework is intended to give organisers and residents clearer guidance on how public space can be used. The decision follows discussions on how to manage the district’s street life.

The council said it will monitor how the measure works in practice and may make further adjustments based on feedback from residents and event organisers. For more local coverage, see our news page.
