Barcelona residents are offering balcony viewing spots for hundreds of euros ahead of Pope Leo XIV’s visit to the city. Listings have appeared on second-hand sales platforms such as Wallapop, according to Diari de Girona, with one balcony on Carrer Rosselló priced at €500.
The Pope is scheduled to travel along Carrer Rosselló in his Popemobile on 10 June. He will then go on to the Sagrada Família, where he is set to officiate a solemn mass and bless the Jesus Christ tower.
One listing describes a “first-line balcony” at the junction of Carrer Rosselló and Passeig de Sant Joan, with the price marked as negotiable. The offer also includes food, according to the advert.
The practice of renting private space for public events is not new, but the expected crowds for the papal visit have pushed demand higher. The visit is likely to draw pilgrims and tourists to central Barcelona.
