Aliança Catalana has approached Marc Torres, assistant to the president of Lleida CF, about becoming their candidate for mayor of Lleida in the municipal elections on 28 May 2027, according to local newspaper Segre.
Torres declined to comment on the matter when asked by Segre, stating he is focused on finalising an agreement with new investors. He said this deal would ensure the football club's viability. The far-right Catalan nationalist party has already announced candidates in several small and medium-sized towns across Catalonia.
In the Lleida region, the party has so far only confirmed Viqui Novell as its mayoral candidate for Tàrrega. Aliança Catalana has not yet revealed any candidates for the four Catalan capitals. Reports suggest they have approached Sandro Rosell in Barcelona and figures from other parties in other cities.
Party Expansion in Lleida
Aliança Catalana opened its Lleida headquarters on 18 April. At the inauguration, local leaders celebrated having over 400 members in the Lleida counties and five regional executive committees. Ramon Abad, the party's president in Segrià, stated, "We will democratically remove the Comuns and the CUP from town councils."
The party continues to expand its presence ahead of the 2027 municipal elections, with further candidate announcements expected in the coming months, particularly for the larger cities.
