A 52-year-old man from Albesa, in the Noguera region of Lleida, died yesterday after his tractor overturned while he was working on his own farm. Emergency services received the alert shortly after 10am.

Five units from the Generalitat Firefighters, along with medical personnel from the Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) and Mossos d'Esquadra officers, quickly arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area. Despite their rapid response, paramedics could not save the man's life. Sources close to the incident explained that the man was working when the tractor overturned, trapping him underneath and causing his death.

Investigation Underway

As is standard in such cases, the Mossos d'Esquadra are handling the investigation to determine the exact causes of the incident. Initially, police sources confirmed that they are treating the death as an accidental fatality, not a workplace accident.

This marks the first fatal incident of this type in Catalonia since the beginning of the year. In February, a person suffered minor injuries after becoming trapped by a tractor trailer hitch in Claravalls, a village in Tàrrega.

Other Road Incidents in Lleida

Separately, several other accidents were reported on Lleida's roads. On Thursday night, a driver was injured when his car left the C-14 road in Bassella and overturned during heavy rain. Firefighters had to extricate the driver, who was then taken to La Seu d'Urgell hospital.

Another vehicle overturned yesterday on the A-2 in Cervera, heading towards Barcelona, following a collision with another car. No one was evacuated, as emergency services reported that those involved were unharmed. In Les Borges Blanques, one person sustained minor injuries after their vehicle overturned on the N-240 road. Additionally, a cyclist fell on a rural track in Castelló de Farfanya and was evacuated with a possible femur fracture after being stabilised.
