Around 700 people participated in a May Day demonstration in Barcelona on Friday, according to figures from the Guàrdia Urbana de Barcelona. The protest was organised by CGT Catalunya.

The march, held under the slogan 'Any de revolucions i lluites' (Year of revolutions and struggles), started at Jardinets de Gràcia. Demonstrators then moved towards Plaça de Joanic, where final speeches took place, the union said in a statement.

CGT highlighted the "constant precarity" affecting the working class and the ongoing loss of purchasing power. The union also stated that public services are deteriorating due to a lack of economic and human resources.

Throughout the route, participants chanted slogans against job precarity and poor working conditions. They also stressed the "need to fight in the street" to keep decision-making power out of political parties' hands.

Union Participation

Militants from the 11 unions forming the Federació Local de CGT Barcelona joined the demonstration. Members from the local federations of CGT Viladecans, CGT Manresa, and Sanitat CGT Terrassa, all in the Barcelona area, also took part.
