Approximately 500 new homes began construction in the Camp de Tarragona during the first semester of 2026, according to data presented by the Associació de Promotors de Catalunya (APCE) and CaixaBank at an event held on Monday at Fira Reus Events.
The figures, drawn from an analysis of the regional property sector, show that 427 homes were completed in the same period. The data covers housing starts and completions across the Camp de Tarragona, as well as parts of the Terres de l’Ebre and Baix Penedès.
Housing Activity by Comarca
Breakdowns by comarca reveal varied trends. The Tarragonès recorded 598 new housing starts, a 14.9% drop compared to 703 in 2024. The Baix Camp saw 279 new starts, down 23.6% from 365 the previous year. In contrast, the Priorat saw a significant rise, with 10 new projects started – a 150% increase from the four recorded in 2024.
The Alt Camp registered 36 new housing starts, up 38.5% from 26 in 2024. Conca de Barberà began 13 new developments, a 56.7% decrease from 30 in 2024.
Rising Home Sales Across the Region
Meanwhile, home sales increased across all comarcas in the Camp de Tarragona in 2025. Total transactions reached 5,590 in Tarragonès (up 4.8%), 3,995 in Baix Camp (up 20.5%), 570 in Alt Camp (up 33.2%), 214 in Conca de Barberà (up 29.7%), and 133 in Priorat (up 24.3%).
Reus led the growth in transactions, with 1,683 sales recorded in 2025 – a 34% increase. Tarragona city saw 2,170 sales, up 11% from 1,955 in 2024.
Across the entire Tarragona province in the first half of the year, 1,339 new homes were sold and 7,206 second-hand homes changed hands.
