A 45-year-old woman was rescued by helicopter in La Riba, Tarragona, on Friday afternoon after she broke her leg in a fall. The incident occurred while she was walking on a path near the Brugent river, close to the Masets refuge, according to Bombers de la Generalitat.
Emergency services received an alert at 3.04pm from a friend of the woman, who reported a possible leg fracture. A ground team from Bombers de la Generalitat and a rescue helicopter with GRAE (Special Actions Group) personnel were dispatched to the scene.
Rescuers reached the woman, who was conscious and oriented, and found she had sustained an ankle fracture. They immobilised her leg with a splint before using a winch to lift her to safety. She was then transferred to an ambulance and taken to a hospital for medical attention.
