The Ajuntament de Vilanova del Vallès said on Tuesday 6 October 2026 that it had coordinated with Civil Protection and the Catalan government’s Interior Department after recent episodes of heavy rain affected the municipality.
For residents in affected areas, the immediate consequence is that municipal services are continuing work on the ground while the council assesses the damage and identifies the resources needed for the response.
Damage assessment and on-site work
According to the Ajuntament’s notice, the 6 October coordination meeting reviewed the effects of the recent rainfall and the resources required to continue work in the municipality.
The council said it remained in contact with the Interior Department, the Generalitat body responsible for emergency and public-safety coordination, while Civil Protection services monitored the situation.
Authorities prioritise work on the ground
A report published on 7 October said municipal representatives had taken part in a county-level coordination meeting in Granollers, convened by Civil Protection’s territorial emergency chief, Eduard Martínez. The meeting allowed councils to submit a list of identified damage.
- Municipal teams were assessing damage to streets and other critical points.
- The Catalan Water Agency, Agència Catalana de l’Aigua (ACA), had carried out an inspection.
- The council said it was prioritising the sites considered to present the greatest risk while monitoring vulnerable locations because further rain was forecast.
Residents should follow any local safety instructions issued by the Ajuntament while inspections and response work continue.
